OutSystems enables to seamlessly extend the platform’s native capabilities by incorporating custom code, such as C#. This functionality has been well-supported in the O11 framework and continues to be a core feature of the new ODC framework, but with additional enhancements and improved methodologies for easier integration. We will explore in detail how ODC facilitates external logic integration.

OutSystems is a low-code platform designed to simplify and accelerate application development by providing a wide range of pre-built components and a rich set of features. These built-in capabilities significantly reduce the need for manual coding, allowing developers to focus on the business logic and user experience rather than reinventing the wheel.
At the same time, OutSystems recognizes that developers often need flexibility to push beyond the limits of the built-in tools. To address this, OutSystems provides a feature to integrate external Logic. This feature empowers developers to seamlessly extend the platform’s native capabilities by incorporating custom code written in languages such as C#. The ability to bring in custom external logic ensures that developers are not confined to the platform’s predefined limits. Instead, they have the flexibility to enhance their applications by integrating advanced functionalities and creating unique solutions that fit the specific needs of their business requirements.
The concept of external logic is not new to OutSystems. It has been thoroughly supported in the O11 framework, where developers could create extensions, integrate external logic, and invoke custom-built components in C# to address the needs that go beyond OutSystems’ built-in capabilities.
In the ODC framework, the external logic capability continues to be an integral part, but with new enhancements and methodologies that improve the integration process. Although both frameworks—ODC and O11—support external logic, there are differences in how the two frameworks manage and expose this feature. The key here is that OutSystems continuously evolves, and with ODC, it further strengthens the platform’s ability to handle more complex scenarios that require custom logic.
During this session we will cover in detail:
1. External logic integration capability in ODC framework.
2. Differences from O11 with respect to methodology, technology, structure etc.
3. Learn building of custom logic.
4. Understand how to integrate the external logic with ODC.
5. Demonstrate consumption of external logic in ODC application.
